I am sitting here on the deck drinking my morning coffee for the last time this year. It has been a very restful and renewing trip overall, but I am happy to be going home!
I’ll be posting more about the trip when I get home!
We have come to Hawaii every winter or fall for the last eight years, after we opted to take a telemarketer up on a free trip to Orlando for four several years back. We have since traded what we purchased (contrary to what we had planned to do ” not buying anything, remember!”) on that trip to buy time in Hawaii. It was a smart thing for us, once we visited once here, we knew we would come back, again and again, and we have. Some trips, the kids were able to join, one memorable trip with my sister and her family, and two trips when friends have joined for part of the trip. These have been the least enjoyable for me. We do things a lot at home with these friends, but we always go home to our respective homes when we are done. Living in a small space with non family members is not so much fun, and I won’t be repeating this mistake any time soon, I hope. I am sure my observations apply to both parties, as I am sure I can be as annoying as the next person, but endearing habits seen once in a while become god-awful habits witnessed all day every day. I am not able to make these observations out loud as I do want to preserve the relationship and I don’t know that I would able to do so with grace. So since no one but my knitting friends ever read this blog, I am getting it out of my system. They are leaving today, we have several more days to decompress which I am very grateful for.
In general, though, this trip has been one of the more relaxing for me. I’ve done a lot of walking, swimming, reading, knitting, maybe a little drinking while knitting…..
finished a shawl (Shaelyn) for the Ravellenic games,
and almost finished with a second shawl, Dendrology. Although this photo is just the beginning…
I’ve read at least five mystery novels, and that feels good.
