I’ve finally finished cleaning, oiling and testing it. It sews beautifully and the awful smell on the machine is gone. The case is altogether a different matter. It was thoroughly covered in dust and mold. I’ve cleaned it and put it in the sun. Going to repeat the process again and see if there is a better result, but I may have to buy a replacement case, but considering this was a gift, it’s a small price to pay for this wonderful machine.
